2015 POF - Friday 5/1/15

The Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino, CA is ALWAYS an excellent and amazing experience, and this year was super extra amazing!! Thanks to the kindness and super awesomeness of two world class pilots, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime - a ride in the P-51D Mustang “Lady Alice” with Mark Moodie!!! I know, amazing, right? Well, the astounding fun doesn’t stop there! As we were taxiing out to the run-up area, we pulled up near Tom Nightingale in the POF SBD Dauntless and I had a feeling that more super fun was on its way. Sure enough, Tom took off and we followed and next thing I knew, we were flying formation off of the wing of the SBD!!!! I had chosen to not bring my camera with me so I could actually focus on the experience but I had my trusty iPhone along and grabbed some video of Tom in the SBD. The video is included in the gallery. Afterwards, I did my best to earn my keep by cleaning the bugs off of “Lady Alice” and giving her a nice polish for the show. That was fun too! Just being close to a warbird is a blast! I’ll never be able to thank Mark and Tom enough (“Lady Alice’s owner as well - THANKS Doc!) for the pleasure of that experience!!! I was flying high the entire weekend and will always remember this Friday in Chino at the POF 2015 Airshow.
