Belleville, MI Parade - 7/22/11
As part of the 2011 Thunder Over Michigan airshow, the city of nearby Belleville, MI had a parade featuring many of the vehicles and reenactors participating in the weekend event. We attended the parade and were very fortunate that evening as a rare MiG-21 did a quick flyby - the ONLY time that weekend that the MiG was in the air! The year 2011 marked the centenary of US Naval Aviation and the years' theme for the airshow reflected as such. As a lovely bonus for AFV fans, we were treated to the participating LVTs, gathered together to participate in the weekend battle reenactments, performing a fun-filled demonstration of their aptitude for water by taking a swim in the town lake. It was very cool to watch them zipping about with grace and power. If you’d like to see some video of the events, check out the video clip at the beginning of the gallery to see some pre-parade LVT action, footage of the arrival of the parade participants, the parade itself and some evening LVT “Water Ballet” - Enjoy!!!
